Irish Spaniel

Personality

The Irish Spaniel is a famously 'happy' breed, combining a gentle, affectionate heart with the intelligence and stamina of a true working gundog.

Exercise Needs

This is an active breed requiring at least an hour of vigorous daily exercise, such as running, hiking, or structured play, to stay physically and mentally content.

Grooming & Care

The silky, medium-length coat requires brushing several times a week to prevent mats. Regular ear cleaning is essential to prevent infections common in drop-eared breeds.

Family Suitability

Health Considerations

Generally healthy, but can be prone to hip dysplasia, ear infections, and certain eye conditions like progressive retinal atrophy (PRA).
